What a day!

Love these candidates sweeping through the South pumping all of us up. We get all adither and think this that and the other. But by November, most of us don't bother to go to the polls to vote. What a cryin' shame.

The word from Birmingham is that Obama's rally had a "rock star-like" atmosphere. That's interesting. The man is truly charismatic. The last fellow we had in office with that much charisma had a daughter who in the New York Times threw her support for Obama.

Let it snow!

Researchers create beating heart in laboratory from PhysOrg.com
University of Minnesota researchers have created a beating heart in the laboratory. By using a process called whole organ decellularization, scientists from the University of Minnesota Center for Cardiovascular Repair grew functioning heart tissue by taking dead rat and pig hearts and reseeding them with a mixture of live cells. The research will be published online in the January 13 issue of Nature Medicine.

Happy New Year

News sites are slow, and I'm slower coming back from the holiday with the family. The littlest angel, my grandson, sprouted two teeth during the week here. He, his mom and dad are back at their home and about to begin their routines again.

They loved Tupelo, but really appreciate Selma's downtown and that it has maintained its quaint flavor.

In Lowndes County, police took Miller Jordan III into custody. Jordan is accused of killing his parents over in Decatur, Ga.

A $20 million renovation of the state's old Public Safety Building is scheduled for completion this summer, when it will become home to the state attorney general's office and the state Department of Homeland Security.
