No I do not read Angel Fire. When if ever will they put all elected offical under the same light.Angel Fire is geared only toward Mayor Perkins and company. This is not the only elected offical in this area and you can not blame everything on one person. It has taken years to get to this point a lot more then eight.A lot of our problems are county wide and Perkins has nothing to do with that but as I stated Angel Fire only highlights the Mayor and staff.Which leads one to think that race is a factor behid Angel Fire as well as the fear of change and not be able to control by the power that be.

BG

I do read Angel Fire. I read every thing about local politics that I can find. I also realize that Angel Fire is biased against the current administration and I do read with skepticism. The joker is right about it taking more than eight years for our city to get to this point, but at the same time it seems that the current public officials (ALL OF THEM)have not helped with the problem and in fact made them worse with all of the fighting and bickering. I do not fear change I realise that it is inevitable and nessesary to move foward. History has taught me that the only constant on this earth is change. I feel that this city needs change right now.

I see your point concerning the current elected officals.I think also that more now then any other time things are being exposed .It would be great if a site such as Angel Fire would show all the flaws intead of just the flaws of the current Mayor of Selma and his administration.I also agree with the need for change but the question has to be asked,To What? And will it move us foward ? or is just the need to get rid of what we have ? But if we do not have real change we are all in trouble City and County.

BG

I agree wholeheartedly. I would also like to see the Selma Times Journal take a more proactive role in not only exposing flaws with the current elected officials but also stating in black and white the platforms of all canidates in the upcoming election. The voters have the right to know who and what they are voting for. In my opinion an ignorant voter base could be devastating to Selma and all of her citizens.

Joker

BG, I agree

If the STJ had some of the contacts/network the 'Angelfire' website has, there would be some fireworks. That is, unless it's someone from the STJ who doesn't want the negative publicity.

Angelfire is interesting, but mostly unconfimed information. I doubt they have fact checkers, or multiple source rules. They seem to just run with it as they get it.

BTW, I've archived the whole Angelfire thing in a blog, so it can be searched and commented. It's at http://selmaangelfire.blogspot.com if anyone's interested.

Tonewah, Contacts / Network,How do they get some of the information etc they put out? who is feeding them that information with all the privacy acts etc in place. And why?

Tonewah

Joker, I don't know. I kinda suspect people just email most of it to their site. In the beginning, they probably had a few sources they knew directly. As the emails came, they grew their network. That seems most logical, to me.

Just speculation, though.

Joker

Tonewah,Look at A.F latest post how would they know what address K Little used to register to vote and who owns the house etc ? Look at some of the other items as well E- Mails ,office memos, etc this is more than random E-Mails from people. And done with no liabilty on their part and all to trash one person the Mayor of Selma and anyone connected to him. While other elected officals in Selma /Dallas County are given a free pass.

Tonewah

Joker... agreed. The 'Angelfire' site does seem to be quite one-sided against Perkins. I believe they consider themselves 'watchdogs', and watchdogs don't usually bite their owners, I guess.
